Hunter the Dog – One Last Goodbye

I wasn’t going to write this blog today, as I am still quite upset about what happened to my furry little friend, but at the end of the day, I wanted to give him the tribute he deserved.

Hunter is brothers with my puppy JJ.  I say puppy because dogs never grow up, but they both just turned 8 this year.  Each of them had their own distinct personalities and we’re always a hoot together.  Hunter was staying with me and my wife for 2 weeks while my mom recovered from surgery.  JJ was so happy to see him.

Then tragedy hit.  It’s one thing if a dog is sick and has been sick for awhile, it makes the choice easier.  But when the vet tells you it’s terminal and any day his life is going to deteriorate fast, it hits you like a ton of bricks.  Just yesterday you tell yourself he was playing with his brother like nothing happened.

Hunter went to a better place on Saturday morning, he left the world with dignity and never knowing he was going to be sick.  He left a happy little guy, wagging his tail and kissing people.  I was a total wreck.

He was the kind of dog who liked to be held, liked to smell the flowers, and enjoyed his stuffed animals.  He was the family dog, beloved by all, and will be sorely missed.  So, as I approach the end of this blog, I just want to say goodbye to my furry friend one last time and remember him for the loving, gentle dog he was.  You were a good boy Hunter.

No advertisement today.  All I’d like are well wishes for us.

  1. I’m sorry for your loss. Been there and done that, pretty much one of the most awful experiences of my life. Please take care.

So sorry for your family’s loss. But Hunter went out like he lived life, happy. He wasn’t in pain. And now he can look out for you and the family. And I agree. I call Sydney a puppy even though he isn’t. He is the Syd Pup!
